LOCATED in the serene Taiping Lake Gardens and at the foot of Larut Hill lies the Taiping Zoo, a sanctuary that not only captivates with its natural beauty but also plays a crucial role in wildlife conservation and education.

Known as Taman Mergastua Sultan Idris Shah, it is the northern gem of Peninsular Malaysia's zoological parks. Covering 34 acres, the zoo is amid an expansion to include new "Open Concept" animal enclosures, enhancing both animal welfare and visitor experience.

Home to over 180 species and 1,300 individuals, the zoo's inhabitants range from the regal Malaysian Tiger to the gentle giants – elephants and giraffes.

The zoo has had notable success in breeding programs, ensuring the survival and proliferation of species like the Siamang, various deer, and the Night Heron, contributing significantly to conservation efforts.

As dusk falls, the zoo transforms into the mesmerising Taiping Night Safari, Malaysia's first nocturnal zoo. This unique experience allows visitors to observe the nightly routines of nocturnal animals under moonlit illumination, emphasising the natural beauty and mystery of the nocturnal world. This initiative not only offers an unparalleled adventure but also underscores the importance of nocturnal wildlife conservation.

TICKETING INFORMATION

For those looking to immerse themselves in the wonders of Taiping Zoo and Night Safari, an adventure awaits that's as accessible as it is enlightening.

The zoo provides a delightful day experience for visitors of all ages, with entry fees set at RM 16 for adults. Children between the ages of 3 to 12 years and senior citizens aged 60 years and above can enjoy all the zoo has to offer for only RM 8. The zoo welcomes visitors every day, including Sundays and public holidays, from 8.30 am to 6 pm, allowing ample time to explore the diverse habitats and species it houses.

As the sun sets, the Night Safari presents a unique opportunity to witness the nocturnal side of nature. Adults are invited to experience this one-of-a-kind adventure for RM 20, while a reduced rate of RM 10 is available for both children aged 3 to 12 and seniors over 60. Operating every night, including Sundays and public holidays, from 8 pm to 11 pm, the Night Safari is an enchanting experience designed to showcase the mysterious lives of nocturnal animals in a setting that's as close to nature as possible.
