KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has denied allegations of involvement in misconduct related to the awarding of government vehicle supply and maintenance contracts to Spanco Sdn Bhd (Spanco).
The former prime minister said, as of now, malicious accusations have circulated in the mass media and social media but none were able to detail how he is implicated in the matter and the alleged misconduct.
"Similar to previous accusations, supposedly involving the misappropriation of billions of ringgit of state funds, which until now have not been proven by those accusing me."
"I have been acquitted and discharged by the Kuala Lumpur High Court of corruption charges related to the Jana Wibawa project. The prosecution's appeal will be heard by the Court of Appeal on Feb 28 and 29. I pray for justice in court," he said in a Facebook post.
Muhyiddin said the allegations were part of a series of character assassinations orchestrated by political adversaries aiming to tarnish his reputation.
As for the Spanco contract, he said the government should disclose the reason why the Letter of Intent (LOI), given to another company by the previous Pakatan Harapan government, was canceled.
"I believe the information about it is available at the Finance Ministry. It is also necessary to disclose the date when the contract was awarded to Spanco."
"Don't just make baseless accusations against me. As prime minister between March 2020 and August 2021, I was not involved in any government contract awards managed by the Finance Ministry," he said.
