KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Sarawak Heart Centre has received a donation of hemodialysis machines, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.

State Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah announced that the donation is part of the Special Assistance for Kidney Patients (BKPBP) initiative, amounting to RM41,150.

"A total of 24 hemodialysis machines will be distributed to 14 health centres across the state, including two at Lundu Hospital, one at Serian Hospital, and three each at the hospitals in Betong, Bintulu, and Mukah," she said.

The announcement was made during the Hemodialysis Machine Handover Ceremony at the Sarawak Heart Centre.

The distribution also includes one machine each for the Debak Health Clinic and the hospitals in Saratok, Kanowit, Dalat, and Limbang, while the Tatau Health Clinic, along with the hospitals in Lawas and Sarikei, will receive two machines each.

Fatimah said the BKPBP initiative is a state government effort aimed at alleviating the financial burden of kidney patients in Sarawak, noting the high costs associated with treatment.

"This donation of hemodialysis machines is expected to meet the growing demand for treatment at the Sarawak Heart Centre," she added.

The machines were officially handed over to Sarawak Heart Centre director Dr Mohd Asri Riffinin as a gesture that underscores the government's commitment to healthcare enhancement.
