SEREMBAN: Din Katak, a man who once caught the attention of residents in this area with his creative display of the Jalur Gemilang, died in an accident yesterday. He was 72.

The incident, involving Din Katak, whose real name was Jamaluddin Maleko, occurred near the Paroi police station on Jalan Seremban-Kuala Pilah at around 3pm.

The accident involved a motorcycle and two cars. Jamaluddin was riding a motorcycle at the time of the incident.

Seremban district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Hatta Che Din, said the victim suffered severe head injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene.

"Initial investigations found that the accident occurred when a 32-year-old man driving a Proton Preve from the direction of Seremban towards Kuala Pilah in the right lane suddenly swerved to the left.

"The Proton Preve then collided with the driver's side door of a Perodua Myvi car driven by a 33-year-old man in the middle lane," he said in a statement today.

As a result of the collision, the Perodua Myvi lost control and veered to the left before colliding with the Modenas Kriss motorcycle ridden by the victim in the left lane.

He said that members of the public with information about the incident can contact the investigating officer, Inspector Fadzilah, at 0162895801 or the Seremban district police headquarters (IPD) at 06-6033222 to assist in the investigation.

"The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and further investigations are ongoing," he said.
