KOTA KINABALU: The North Borneo University College (NBUC) and UDA Holdings Berhad (UDA) have forged a partnership to share expertise in providing training, education and industry exposure in key sectors such as real estate development, hospitality and facility management.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by NBUC vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Azimuddin Bahari and UDA president and chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Salem Kailany in a ceremony held at NBUC today (Feb 22).

In his speech, Azimuddin said this collaboration would enable NBUC students to undergo industrial training at UDA and secure employment opportunities upon graduation.

"This MoU will provide a platform for our interns from the School of Business and Hospitality Faculty. Successful interns may be absorbed into UDA, making this collaboration essential," he said, adding that as an educational institution, NBUC requires collaborative partners for research and consultancy.

"We also need industry exposure and UDA can assist us in this matter. Additionally, we can arrange study visits to UDA," he said.

Azimuddin said that in return, NBUC offers various fields of study for UDA staff to obtain the necessary qualifications and skills.

Meanwhile, Mohd Salem said that strategic partnerships between higher education institutions and industries can provide a deeper understanding of current industry trends and practices, especially in real estate development and asset management carried out by UDA.

He added that UDA's extensive experience over decades can serve as a reference to enhance industry knowledge for NBUC graduates and improve curriculum development and experience sharing between both parties.

"UDA is also ready to offer industrial training and expertise advice to NBUC students and lecturers in relevant fields, subject to terms and conditions, to benefit all parties.

"This also meets the need to enhance industrial skills for the new and upcoming generations," he said. — Bernama
