ALOR STAR: A comprehensive community clean-up and joint operation to combat Aedes mosquitoes was carried out in Taman Bersatu, Kuala Kedah, by the Alor Star City Council in collaboration with strategic partners and medical trainees from the Health MinistryTraining Institute, the city council said in a Facebook post on Feb 20.

The programme was attended by Kuala Kedah MP Dr Ahmad Fakhruddin Sheikh Fakhrurazi, accompanied by city council member Mohd Azizi Abdullah.

The objective of the Gotong Royong and Integrated Operation is to prevent and control the spread of dengue fever in the area.

Awareness campaigns were also conducted, distributing leaflets and Abate to residents to prevent the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes in the vicinity.

As a result of the joint Aedes enforcement operation in Taman Bersatu, Kuala Kedah, the city council issued six compounds and 87 notices under various by-laws.
