PETALING JAYA: A man who uploaded a 5-second video claiming to have set alight an auxiliary police vehicle near the Mutiara Damansara MRT station on his social media site, TikTok, early this morning has been detained.

The suspect, a 26-year-old p-hailing driver is alleged to have thrown a molotov bomb at the auxiliary car, causing it catch fire at about 1.52am, before he made the short video with the burning car.

Petaling Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Fakhrudin Abd Majid when contacted confirmed the incident and the suspect's arrest.

"Police tracked down the suspect to a house in Flora Damansara at about 12pm and arrested the suspect. We also seized several items believed to be related to the attack from the suspect during the arrest," he said. Preliminary investigations, he said showed that the suspect vandalised the auxiliary police vehicle before setting it on fire.

"The motive, so far, is believed to be his dissatisfaction towards the government and police. The case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief," he said.

Earlier, it was reported that the man had also posted 'satisfied to be able to burn the police car #polistakdekeje'.

Police are expected to release a detailed statement on the incident later today.
