IPOH: In a strategic move to amplify the Visit Perak Year 2024 campaign, Tourism Perak has launched a series of YouTube and TikTok content designed to promote the state's attractions on social media platforms.

As highlighted by Peraktastic in a Facebook post, state Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee expressed confidence that this initiative holds great potential in penetrating both domestic and international markets, thus energising the Visit Perak Year 2024 campaign.

"The current trend indicates that the general public is inclined towards social media over traditional print media.

"Therefore, this initiative is seen as a pivotal effort in presenting Perak to a broader audience, including international cooperation," he said during a press conference following the initiative's launch at Miker Signature, Silveritage Complex today.

Sze Yee highlighted that to achieve this goal, Tourism Perak has partnered with about 20 local and international TikTokers and YouTubers, including influencers from China, Thailand, Japan, and Korea.

"They will promote Perak's products on their social media accounts, leveraging their significant followings. The content created will also be shared on Tourism Perak's social media platforms," he added.

Tourism Perak CEO Nurmalis Musa said that the collaboration involves five local TikTokers, with the rest being international creators, some of whom are based in Malaysia.

"They will create content for their social media platforms, and these videos will also be marketed in their home countries," she said.

The YouTube and TikTok series will feature hidden gems, popular tourist destinations, and the diverse beauty available for exploration in Perak.

According to Nurmalis, the official TikTok account of Tourism Perak has seen a surge in video views and audience engagement, with a 200 per cent increase from December last year to the end of January this year.
