JERANTUT: Efforts to bring down the body of a 52-year-old woman, who died while climbing Gunung Reskit in Kuala Tahan here yesterday, have been hampered by bad weather.

Jerantut district police chief, Superintendent Azman Mat Kamis, said the victim, identified as Zahalita Othman, had reportedly joined a mountain-climbing group last Thursday (Feb 1).

However, she began experiencing breathing difficulties and died yesterday, which also happened to be her birthday.

Azman said an operation to airlift the woman's body from the mountain could was unsuccessful as the Fire and Rescue Department's helicopter could not detect the location due to bad weather.

Azman said they will continue efforts to bring her remains down from the location.
