KUALA LUMPUR: A father has expressed gratitude for the concern shown by police officers who assisted his child's urgent need to go to the hospital after being stuck in traffic.

Sharing the moment through a post on Facebook, Gor Gor Mellvin received a call from his child's teacher after his eight-year-old son, Matthew, who attends Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Choong Wen, experienced incessant nosebleeding.

"After arriving at SJKC Choong Wen, we rushed to the University Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM), but we got stuck in traffic.

"We were worried about Matthew's health because he is scheduled for his third heart surgery in June, and he is a patient at the National Heart Institute (IJN).

"We were very anxious, and suddenly we managed to flag down a police patrol car passing through Jalan Klang Lama, and the police officer immediately took my son to the hospital.

"We are very grateful to the police who came to our rescue even though they were on duty today due to the arrival of our new King (Yang di-Pertuan Agong).

"Kudos to the traffic police," he said.

Along with the Facebook post, Mellvin also shared details of the incident along with several pictures of Matthew and two PDRM members who assisted them.

The incident reportedly occurred at 8.15am last Wednesday at Jalan Klang Lama here, and the two police patrol officers who helped them were identified as Inspector Muhd Kamaruddin and Corporal Aswad.

The police officers were en route to Bukit Aman through Jalan Klang Lama in heavy traffic when they were flagged down by a man driving a Perodua Alza.

The Alza driver requested help in taking his child, who was experiencing nosebleeds and heart problems, to PPUM.

The police officers took prompt action to assist Mellvin in reaching PPUM and safely arrived at the hospital at 8.40am.
