JOHOR BARU: An electric car caught fire while charging at a car showroom, here, yesterday.
Operations commander, Senior Fire Officer II, Azmi Johar said they received a distress call at 2.45pm and promptly dispatched a group of 10 firefighters to the scene.
Upon arrival, it was discovered that a Mercedes EQB was ablaze, and the incident occurred while the vehicle was charging.
"The fire consumed 90 per cent of the car and 5 per cent of the showroom building.
"It also affected 20 per cent of the electric vehicle charging bay in front of the burning car," Azmi said.
The cause of the fire and the actual estimated losses are still under investigation.
