KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians have reportedly been implicated in joining Russia as mercenaries during its nearly two-year invasion of Ukraine.

The Ukraine National Resistance Centre disclosed that Malaysian mercenaries, accompanied by a translator and a former 'Wagner' member, have been identified in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine.

"The fighters are currently undergoing training at the designated ground," the statement revealed.

In addition to Malaysians, mercenaries from countries such as Cuba, Nepal, Belarus, Serbia, and others have been consistently observed fighting alongside the Russian armed forces.

In response to these developments, the centre issued a warning, declaring that anyone siding with Russians against Ukraine will be considered a military target.

"Simultaneously, we urge the local population to remain vigilant and continue providing information about the enemy and their gathering points."
