KUANTAN: Pahang has fully recovered from the second wave of floods, with the remaining 110 evacuees in Rompin were allowed to return home today.

The Pahang Civil Defence Force (CDF) Disaster Management Committee Secretariat said the victims from two temporary relief centres were allowed to return home in stages since morning before the centres were closed at 2pm.

"The relief centre at SK Leban Chondong with 101 people from 34 families, which was opened on Jan 8, and Bukit Ibam public hall with nine people from two families, which was opened on Jan 17, were closed today," it said in a statement.

The second wave of floods, which struck Pahang on Jan 6, affected three districts: Maran, Pekan, and Rompin.

Meanwhile, Pahang CDF director Colonel Che Adam A Rahman said although the state has seen clear skies over the past few days and no flood relief centres were operating, the northeast monsoon had not ended.

"The CDF Disaster Management Committee Secretariat stands ready and alert, anticipating the potential occurrence of heavy downpours," he said.
