KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Security Industry Association (PIKM) has urged the Home Ministry (KDN) to take legal action and revoke the licences of security companies employing illegal foreign workers as security guards in the sector.

PIKM president, Mohammad Ubaidillah Enam@Iman, said there are a few security companies deliberately hiring foreign security guards without work permits, solely for the sake of profit and disregarding existing laws and regulations.

"The actions of these companies, which employ illegal foreigners without valid documents as security guards, pose a danger to public safety as these guards lack proper security screening and are not registered with the Home Ministry.

"It is time for the authorities to ensure that only security guards approved and vetted by the Home Ministry are employed," he said in a statement today (January 12).

He was commenting on a media report on the detention of 10 foreign security guards in the Klang Valley by the Home Ministry's Enforcement and Control Division in collaboration with the Immigration Department, last Wednesday.

Mohammad Ubaidillah said security guards permitted to work in the country should be either local residents or Nepali citizens holding valid permits specifically for the position.

"Therefore, we welcome and urge the authorities, especially the Home Ministry, to conduct integrated operations regularly and continuously to apprehend illegal foreign security guards," he said while urging the public to use licenced security companies registered with the Home Ministry. – Bernama
