KUALA LUMPUR: Police today questioned four people over the so-called "Dubai Move" allegedly aimed at toppling the government.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the police had called in the four to have their statements recorded under Section 112 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

"Those who were called in were Community Communications Department (J-Kom) deputy director Datuk Ismail Yusop, Parti Pribumi Bersatu (Bersatu) information committee member Badrul Hisham Shaharin, otherwise known as Chegubard; blogger Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, popularly known as Papagomo; and, social media influencer Salim Iskandar.

"Police have received a total of 145 police reports regarding the same issue," he said in a statement.

Razarudin also said police have opened an investigation paper regarding the allegations that Perikatan Nasional (PN) is bribing the Yang-Di Pertuan Agong to bring down the unity government.

"Four police reports have been lodged regarding the issue where it will be investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998."

Razarudin added that the completed investigation paper will be referred to the Attorney-General's Chambers in line with Article 145(3) of the Federal Constitution.

On Tuesday, Razarudin said police may call several politicians and social media influencers for questioning over the Dubai Move.

This came following the lodging of several reports regarding the matter, including one from the prime minister's senior political secretary Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin.

Shamsul had said the Dubai Move was a strategy started by several irresponsible members of parliament and opposition leaders.

In December, Ismail had claimed that opposition leaders and several government MPs had met in Dubai to discuss overthrowing the government.
