ALOR STAR: Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has called for Kedahans to brace themselves for a challenging year ahead in 2024.
He anticipated that the social and economic situation would remain challenging as a result of continuous worldwide conflicts and the resurgence of the Covid-19 threat.
"All Kedahans whom I hold dearly, the year 2024 is expected to be a challenging one for all of us. The ongoing Russia-Ukraine war is likely to continue exerting global economic pressure. The prices of goods will continue to soar.
"The Zionist regime's atrocities against Palestine are expected to escalate global tensions, possibly worsening the situation.
"The re-emergence of Covid-19 is undoubtedly causing concern once again. Therefore, be mindful. Let us not end up confined as we did during the pandemic which paralysed our entire lives," he said in a statement today.
Hence, Sanusi urged Kedahans to self-reflect and follow Prophet Muhammad's advice, encouraging self-improvement while avoiding self-degradation.
"Let's strive to become better individuals. There is no need to wait for a new year to make a positive change. We should review ourselves on a daily basis, be good, and distance ourselves from all wrongdoing.
"Taking inspiration from the Prophet's message, let's pledge to become a better person for our well-being in this world and the hereafter," he said, wishing all Kedahans a happy new year.
