KOTA BARU: The floods which hit eight districts in Kelantan worsened after more than 17,000 people were evacuated from their homes as of 10pm today compared to 15,216 people this afternoon.

All the flood evacuees are currently seeking shelter at 86 temporary relief centres in Pasir Mas, Kuala Krai, Tanah Merah, Machang, Pasir Puteh, Kota Baru, Gua Musang and Jeli.

According to the Welfare Department's Bencana Banjir portal, Pasir Mas has the highest number of flood evacuees, who were relocated at 33 relief centres.

As of press time, there are 2,838 people evacuated to 31 flood evacuation centres in Kuala Krai, followed by Tanah Merah (1,216 flood evacuees), Machang (204 flood evacuees), Jeli (83 flood evacuees), Gua Musang (69 flood evacuees), Kota Baru (42 flood evacuees) and 33 people seeking shelter at one temporary relief centres in Pasir Puteh.

In Terengganu, the number of flood evacuees dropped slightly to 9,915 people compared to 10,103 people earlier today.

As of 10pm today, the flood evacuees were housed at 111 temporary relief centres statewide.
