GUA MUSANG: Rosmi Rosli had his Christmas joy dashed today as the road to his village in the Pos Belatim Resettlement Scheme (RPS) was inundated, making it inaccessible to traffic.
The 34-year-old man's 'balik kampung' ride from Ipoh, Perak, came to an unexpected standstill, leaving him stranded near the Sungai Betis bridge, which was submerged in floodwaters about 10am today.
"I left Ipoh at 6am today because I took a four-day leave to spend Christmas with my family after not seeing them in a year. Before I left for my trip, I knew that the road at Pos Blau had been flooded since yesterday.
"I was not expecting the water to rise so quickly and submerge a portion of the Sungai Betis bridge," he told reporters at the Kuala Betis RPS here.
Rosmi, from the Temiar tribe said that following the incident, he would make a 'pit stop' in Gua Musang town to wait for the waters to recede and the Kuala Betis bridge to be passable before continuing his journey to Pos Belatim.
"If the bridge remains impassable, it's a ride back to Ipoh for me and I will reschedule my trip for another time," he said. –BERNAMA
