KUALA SELANGOR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah today joined the congregation of over 700 people at the Raja Lumu Mosque here for Friday prayers.

Also present were the Regent of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah and the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.

Imam Abdul Karim Omar led the Friday prayers.

Earlier, State Mosque Grand Imam Muhammad Farhan Wijaya, in delivering the Friday sermon titled 'Raja Berdaulat, Menjunjung Kasih Titah Ditaat', called on the congregation to be obedient citizens and to hold in high regard the King as the leader or 'ulil amri,' as it is also one of the religious commandments.

After the prayers, Al-Sultan Abdullah also spent some time mingling with the congregants.

The Raja Lumu Mosque in Bukit Melawati, formerly known as Kuala Selangor Old Town Mosque, is the ninth royal mosque in the state, after being fully renovated in 2019 and proclaimed on Oct 6 last year by the Sultan of Selangor.

It was named after Raja Lumu, the first Sultan of Selangor, known as Sultan Salehuddin Shah who reigned from 1766 to 1782.– BERNAMA
