KUALA LUMPUR: Police are waiting for boy who ran away from his Cheras boarding school due to alleged bullying to be discharged from hospital before recording his statement.
City police chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said the boy was currently warded at the Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital (HCTM).
"We have to interview and get his statement on the matter once he is discharged... then we can decide on the next course of action," he told reporters after the city police contingent-level Deepavali celebration, here.
Earlier, it was reported that the victim's mother, Shuhada Jamaludin, said her son has been receiving treatment since being admitted at the hospital on Dec 9.
She had said her son was recovering physically but remains traumatised over the incident, so much so that he has had to undergo psychiatric treatment.
Shuhada also said the boy has been regaining his appetite and began interacting with people around him.
The day before he was admitted, Muhammad Danial Akmal Zulkhairi was reported missing after fleeing the boarding school at 3am.
He was found by the public the following day in a weakened state at a shelter waiting for a bus in front of Masjid Saidina Othman in Bandar Tun Razak.
The victim's mother said that her son had admitted to being severely bullied at the school, prompting his escape in the wee hours of the previous morning.
