SHAH ALAM: Seventy-five people from 26 families sought shelter at two relief centres in Kuala Selangor due to flooding.

Selangor Civil Defence Force Disaster Management Committee secretariat said the relief centres were opened at Sekolah Kebangsaan Jaya Setia and Parit Mahang community hall.

The publicinfobanjir.water.gov.my portal reported that the level of Sungai Bernam in Kampung Sungai Selisek, Hulu Selangor, has exceeded the danger point but is on a downward trend as of 9am today.

In Kelantan, the second wave of floods sent 55 victims from 12 families in the Kuala Krai district to take shelter at a temporary relocation centre.

The centre was opened at 9am today because several villages in the district have been inundated by heavy rain since yesterday.

The Social Welfare Department's Disaster Information Portal reported that the victims, consisting of 32 adults, 22 children, and an infant, have sought shelter at the Chuchuh Puteri A Community Center.

The publicinfobanjir.water.gov.my also reported that water levels in several main rivers have risen, with two rivers surpassing the alert level and two rivers at the warning level.

The two rivers exceeding the alert level are Sungai Nal in Kuala Krai, with the current reading at 24.52 metres (m) compared to the normal level of 21m, and Sungai Kelantan in Kampung Temangan, Machang (15.89m).

The two rivers at the warning level are Sungai Pergau in Jeli (50.98m) and Sungai Semerak at the Melor Bridge, Bachok (7.17m).
