KOTA BARU: State Amanah Youth chief Hazmi Hassan has come out with a song condemning the Kelantan government for allowing land clearing for development projects.

He claimed the activities were the reason for increased human-wildlife conflict in the state, putting the lives of many in danger

Hazmi said he made the video clip and uploaded it on social media last year.

However, after realising that the activities were continuing and the human-wildlife conflict was becoming more serious especially in Gua Musang, he decided to upload the video again early this month.

"Knowing that many people have been killed in series of tiger attacks in Gua Musang, l decided to upload the video again.

"Hoping that it will go viral, and the state government will realise and take immediate action," he said.

In the song, Hazmi also mentioned the name of former Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah who he claimed had given various excuses for the rampant clearing of state permanent forests especially in Gua Musang.

The three-minute and 41 seconds long video with the title 'Anak Klate Saye Hute' (Kelantanese loves jungle) has so far garnered 20,000 views, generating over 300 comments and almost 130 shares.

In the comment section, many netizens expressed their support to Hazmi for making the video.

One of them @Abe Cik, said 'mantap Mie, Hok jolo kita sokong, terus bongkar' (Well done Hazmi. We will support what is right. Continue with the exposure).

Another netizen@Abu Mus'ab said 'sakan lagu...berbuih Nik Amar dengar' (good song...Nik Amar will be foaming when he listens to it).

The issue of the uncontrolled land clearing for development projects in Kelantan has been highlighted by many, including non-governmental organisations and other bodies.

Kelantan Orang Asli Villages Network (JKOAK) recently cited the activities as the reason for increased human-wildlife conflict in the state, putting the lives of man and beast at stake in the state

Its chairman Mustafa Along said logging activities, the establishment of farms and the construction of the Nenggiri Hydroelectric Power Plant have led to widespread deforestation and encroached on animal habitats, forcing the wildlife like tigers, bears and elephants to enter the nearby villages in Hulu Kelantan to search for food.

He said the conflicts between humans and wildlife have been occurring frequently and the Orang Asli are the main victims.

He added that wildlife have been invading Kampung Sau, Pos Bihai where nearby logging and forest clearing activities are being carried out.
