KUALA LUMPUR: Newly crowned 2023 Miss Globe 2023 Manvin Khera has not only made history by being the first Malaysian to clinch the title but is now a voice for global advocacy, transcending borders and breaking barriers.

Manvin's victory serves as a beacon of hope, a reminder that even in the darkest of times, individuals can rise above adversity and inspire change.

With compassion, humanity and kindness at the forefront of her advocacy, the model and aspiring lawyer calls for a collective effort to bridge gaps, understand differences, and work towards a world free from violence and hate.

"Be the change you want to see in the world. Human greed is the main cause of all the sufferings taking place globally and needs to be stopped. Currently, many things which are happening break my heart, with people screaming for help and innocent lives being taken away at such a young age.

"I've lived 22 years of my life, and I feel it is not enough; I feel I need to live longer and survive," the 22-year-old model told Bernama in an exclusive interview, recently.

Manvin triumphed over 50 other global beauties at the Sports Palace in Durrës, Albania, on November 17, succeeding Anabel Payano from the Dominican Republic as the reigning Miss Globe.

Advocacy to promote Malaysia's attractiveness

Hailing from Ipoh and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Manvin is not just a symbol of beauty but a woman with a mission.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Law at a college in Kuala Lumpur, her commitment to representing Malaysia internationally is not merely a personal achievement but a commitment to bringing pride and hope to her country.

"People had high hopes for me, wanting to see the Malaysian flag fly high, and I am proud to say that I carried the Malaysian flag on the international stage," said the commercial talent who also grabbed the Miss Talent title during the competition.

As a globe ambassador next year, Manvin plans to carry the rich traditions of Malaysia to different corners of the world. From the elegant Cheongsam to the vibrant Songket, she aims to showcase the cultural diversity that makes Malaysia a unique and beautiful home.

Her planned tour for next year, spanning countries like Kazakhstan, Spain, Portugal, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand, is not just a celebration of culture but a platform to raise awareness about her homeland.

Manvin's connection to sports runs deep; excelling in archery to football and hiking, she not only embraces the thrill of adventure but also finds solace surrounded by the tranquility of nature.

Her advocacy for the environment is a driving force fueled by a deep concern for the planet's well-being.

In a world grappling with plastic pollution, the beauty queen is encouraging small business owners to embrace an eco-friendly lifestyle by implementing plastic-free practices in their business activities.

Manvin believes educating the global community on the adverse effects of single-use plastics on the environment starts with local communities.

"Again be the change you want to see in the world," she said, adding that an estimated 160 million metric tonnes of plastic waste exist in oceans.

Authenticity key to winning titles

When asked for advice for aspiring beauty queens aiming to excel in beauty pageants, Manvin said that authenticity is an important trait to follow.

In a world where beauty pageants often focus on glitz and glamour, she stressed the importance of being true to oneself.

Her radiant smile, she believes, is not just a reflection of happiness but a source of positive energy that connects with people.

In her eyes, authenticity is the key to standing out, being different, and making a lasting impact.

"One of the important qualities an aspiring beauty pageant should have is being authentic.

For me, being authentic is so important. No matter what you do and say, you need to be real and with pure intention.

"Be who you are; do not fake yourself. Be authentic and be real," said Manvin, who has also been making waves in the world of fashion and entertainment. — Bernama
