ALOR STAR: The driver of the lorry involved in an accident near Kampung Kolon in Pokok Sena yesterday, resulting in the death of two women, was detained for a day by the police to assist the investigation.

Kota Star acting police chief Syed Basri Syed Ali said that the 48-year-old man was later released on police bail.

He said ongoing investigations on the crash are being conducted under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Yesterday's incident claimed the life of Nadzifah Abu Seman, a 28-year-old pregnant housewife, who was due in four months.

Also killed in the tragic crash was Nadzifah's mother Romadiah Ismail, 65.

Initial police investigations found that the lorry involved was travelling from Alor Star to Pokok Sena before crashing into a Perodua Bezza, Perodua Axia and Toyota Hilux arriving from the opposite direction.

It was reported that the lorry attempted to avoid a motorcycle which was entering its lane before colliding with the three vehicles. (https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2023/12/986055/fatal-crash-pokok-sena...)

Meanwhile, Nadzifah's husband, Ismail Mohamad, 28, said that no apology has been received from the lorry driver immediately after the incident.

He said that despite coming to terms with the loss of his beloved wife, he hopes appropriate action is taken against the lorry driver for causing the accident.
