PUTRAJAYA: In further enhancing digitalisation in Felda settlements, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in various initiatives.

Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the MoU would see, among others, strategic cooperation in encouraging cashless payments through 150 digital economy centres in Felda settlements, as well as small businesses registered with the associations.

The awareness campaign revolves around four pillars — digital literacy, cyber security, income opportunities and capacity building — to be implemented in collaboration with MCMC's strategic partners.

"I hope this will enhance digitalisation and involvement (of beneficiaries) in digital economy, especially in generating income among the settlers," he told reporters after the handing over of the MoU held in conjunction with the Madani Economy Digital Centres (PEDi) Conference 2023 here.

Meanwhile, MoUs signed separately with the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) and the Malaysian Pharmacists Society (MPS) would see a boost in digitalisation at private clinics and pharmacies.

They include some 12,000 micro small-medium enterprises (MSMEs) under MMA and MPS that could benefit the digitalisation grant of up to RM5,000, said Fahmi.
