KUALA LUMPUR: Residents of Shah Alam, particularly those in the proximity to Bukit Jelutong, are strongly advised against participating in an upcoming assembly organised by the Residents' Association of Taman Bukit Jelutong (BJRA).

The gathering aimed to protest the proposed clearing of the last green field in Bukit Jelutong for a housing development.

"The Shah Alam police are taking this matter seriously and does not encourage the assembly scheduled for Nov 18, from 8am to 9.30am at Jalan Bazar U8/101, Section U8, Bukit Jelutong," District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said in a statement today.

He said the lack of adequate parking facilities in the area posed a risk of traffic congestion, potential damage to public amenities and landscape.

In light of these concerns, Mohd Iqbal said the organisers have been notified not to proceed with the planned assembly.

He added that authorities seek full cooperation from all parties involved to ensure the collective well-being of the community.
