KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) has once again demonstrated its commitment to academic excellence and innovation reflected in its standing by securing the 69th position in the latest edition of Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia University Rankings.

UTP has secured the position among 857 universities evaluated which the recognition places the university among the top eight per cent of institutions in Asia and positions the university at 16th within the Asean region.

Consistently recognised in esteemed evaluations such as the Times Higher Education and QS rankings, UTP is firmly cementing its status as the best private university in Malaysia and Asean, solidifying its influence and excellence in the regional academic landscape.

UTP vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Ts Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib said UTP's placement in the QS Asia University Rankings speaks volumes about the university's continuous dedication to academic distinction and innovative practices.

"This recognition validates our commitment to delivering a world-class education and fostering an environment conducive to advanced research and development.

"We gratefully acknowledge the continuous support from Petronas and our stakeholders. This achievement stands as a testament to our collective dedication to providing world-class engineering, science and technology education and reinforces our mission to create an environment that fosters intellectual growth and global competitiveness," he said in a statement today (November 15).

Mohamed Ibrahim also said that UTP is committed to supporting Petronas' sustainability initiatives in achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
