SHAH ALAM: The Selangor government is expected to settle all its debts with the federal government next year.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari during the tabling of the state's 2024 Budget today said that the current records indicated that the outstanding debt balance with the federal government stood at RM19,207,475.78.

"The sum encompasses loans for the Water Supply Project (Projek Bekalan Air) and the Skim Amanah Saham Selangor (Asas).

"The state's commitment to debt liability resolution next year is notably low, involving the final instalment of the Asas scheme totalling RM1,893,379.47.

"As for the balance for the water supply project totalling RM17,314,096.31, it will be transferred to the Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd (PAAB), which only requires documentation and the process is ongoing," he said.

Amirudin added the state government had successfully demonstrated optimal governance in managing financial resources.

"This is being done without compromising service efficiency while elevating the standard of living for the people of Selangor through the state's 2024 Budget."
