IPOH: Perak Mufti Datuk Wan Zahidi Wan Teh leads a list of 238 recipients of awards, honours and medals in conjunction with the 67th birthday celebration of the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, today.

Wan Zahidi was honoured with the Dato' Seri Paduka Mahkota Perak (SPMP) award, which carries the title 'Datuk Seri'. The same recognition was bestowed upon Public Service Department director-general, Datuk Dr Zulkapli Mohamed.

Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja, General (Rtd) Tan Sri Dr Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin said Sultan Nazrin was also pleased to confer the Dato' Seri Panglima Taming Sari (SPTS) award to 22nd Armed Forces Chief Tan Sri Mohammad Ab Rahman and Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, which carries the title 'Datuk Seri Panglima'.

Mohd Zahidi said Sultan Nazrin has bestowed the Dato' Paduka Cura Si Manja Kini (DPCM), which carries the title 'Datuk', to Perak Finance officer, Mohd Zaki Mahyudin.

He added Sultan Nazrin also conferred the Dato' Paduka Mahkota Perak (DPMP) award, which carries the title of 'Datuk' on 13 people, including the New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd group managing editor, Datuk Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman.

Also conferred DPMP were state executive councillor, who is also Temenggor assemblyman Salbiah Mohamed; cardiologist and PKR Central Leadership Council member, Dr Lee Boon Chye; Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) vice-chancellor Prof Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib.

Among other recipients of the DPMP were Perak Public Works Department director Hamdan Ali; state Education director Mohamad Fauzi Mahson; Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital director Dr Megat Iskandar Megat Abdul Hamid; Finance Ministry division secretary Nor Eni Ismail; Perak Hockey Association president Mohd Saiyuti Abd Samat and Malaysian Ambassador to India, Muzafar Shah Mustafa.

Other recipients of the DPMP were CST Auto Group of Companies chief executive officer P. Chandrasekaran; former Perak State Park Corporation director Mohamed Shah Redza Hussein; and Perak State Agricultural Development Corporation (Perak SADC) chief executive officer Yahanis Yahya.

Meanwhile, Defence Ministry Geospatial Defence Director Brig General Sr Dr Zambri Mohamad Radab leads the list of five recipients of the Datuk Pahlawan Taming Sari (DPTS) award, which carries the title 'Datuk Pahlawan'.

The other four recipients were police International Relations chief senior assistant commissioner R. Suparamaniam; Malaysian Armed Forces Veteran Affairs Department Health Corp Brig General (Rtd) Dr Leong Weng Foon, Inspector General of the Royal Malaysian Navy Rear Admiral Mohd Fadzli Kamal Mohd Mohaldin, and Commander of the Second Malaysian Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Asri Shukor.

A total of 14 people would receive Darjah Paduka Cura Si Manja (PCM), 29 people to receive Darjah Paduka Mahkota Perak (PMP), 21 to receive Darjah Ahli Cura Si Manja Kini (ACM), 43 people for Darjah Ahli Mahkota Perak (AMP), 60 individuals to receive Pingat Pekerti Terpilih (PPT), 33 people for Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK) and 15 people to receive the Pingat Lama Perkhidmatan (PLP).

Among the notable PJK recipients are Perakian athletes who won medals at the Hangzhou Asian Games 2022 held from Sept 23 until Oct 8.

They included Muhammad Azeem Mohd Fahmi, who won the bronze medal at the 100m men's final; Shereen Samson Vallabouy who bagged the bronze medals in the 400m and 4x100m women's final and Muhd Shafiq Puteh who won bronze in the men's 3m springboard synchro event.

Mohd Zahidi said the investiture ceremony would be held over two sessions on Sunday (Nov 5) and Nov 18 at Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar.

He added that the celebration would begin with the Yassin recitation and Doa Selamat at Masjid Ubudiah in Kuala Kangsar during Friday's prayer.

"A special lunch spread will also be prepared for 7,100 prisoners and detainees in four institutions in the state.

"It was Sultan Nazrin's concern and kindness towards the welfare of the prisoners and detainees that he had expressed his intention to fund the lunch.

"The lunch will be served on Friday (Nov 3) at Tapah and Taiping Prisons, Kamunting Correctional Centre and Batu Gajah Rehabilitation Centre.

"We would also like to invite all Perakians to fly the Perak flag at their office, business and respective premises in conjunction with Sultan Nazrin's birthday celebration," he said in a press conference at Laman Seri Ridzuan here.
