MELAKA: International Islamic preachers have praised the courage of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who does not waver in the face of threats and Malaysia's stance for consistently advocating for the welfare of the Palestinians.

They viewed the firm stand and courage as extraordinary and worthy of emulation by leaders of other countries, especially Islamic nations worldwide.

Indonesian preacher Al-Habib Hasan Jaafar As-Saggaf said all Muslims should support the Prime Minister's stance, and he urged Malaysians to unite in voicing their protest against the cruelty of Israel towards the Palestinians.

"The actions of Malaysia's leaders are extraordinary, and its people are united in voicing their objections against Israel's ongoing attacks on Palestine. This is one of Malaysia's strengths, as the Palestinians greatly need the prayers offered.

"Do not be afraid," he told reporters after a prayers and an event at Masjid Cina Negeri Melaka, Krubong last night.

Yesterday, Anwar revealed that he had received threats from European leaders regarding the country's firm stance on the Palestinian issue.

He said the threats in question came from a European Member of Parliament who had proposed sanctions against Malaysia

However, he emphasised that Malaysia would not be deterred by any threats from any party to impose sanctions on the country.

Another Indonesian preacher, Ali Zaenal Abidin Faisal Al-Madihij, stated that Anwar's courage is evidence that Islamic leaders, especially in this region, were not easily swayed when it comes to defending the Palestinian people, even in the face of threats and harsh warnings from powerful nations.

"In this regard, what we should fear is that if we succumb to threats, I fear that we ourselves will face calamity. Therefore, never be afraid for our brothers and sisters in Palestine.

"Perhaps due to our struggle, Allah has granted our nation security. Do not be afraid because these challenges will appear everywhere, and Allah wants to see whether we can endure," he said.

Local preacher Muhammad Hatta Abdul Rahim expressed confidence that Malaysians, especially Muslims, will always stand with the country's leadership in advocating for the rights of the Palestinians.

"I believe our leaders should not be worried. We, from all over the country and starting in Melaka, with God willing, always be behind them for the sake of our brothers and sisters in Palestine," he said.
