KOTA KINABALU: The onus is on the Sabah government to coordinate human resources especially in technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Mustapha Sakmud said that the state would know the best mechanism to manage its people.
"The state would know what kind of investors that come to the state and how many workers would be needed.
"Sabah would also get information to ensure trainees that are produced would be based on the request of the industries to reduce the mismatch of training and job opportunity," he said, adding that about 90 per cent of TVET-related training institutes are located in the Sepanggar area.
He was speaking to reporters after visiting Yayasan Sabah Technology College in Likas near here.
Mustapha, who is also Sepanggar member of parliament, added that he would ensure the allocation of RM6.8 billion for TVET development to be equally channelled to all states including Sabah.
He said the government's commitment to strengthen TVET is to achieve the target of having 35 per cent skilled workers by 2030.

Tah said the college has been collaborating with strategic partners from various industrial fields such as DRB-HICOM University (DHU).
It also works with existing industry partners such as Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (Umpsa), and the State Economic Planning Unit of Sabah (Upen), as well as other industry partners.
"This collaboration will provide opportunities for Yayasan Sabah Technology College to offer diploma and bachelor's degree programmes in the field of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and offer open distance learning (ODL) master's and PhD programmes in business administration.
"In addition, the college is working to establish cooperation with the Sabah Water Department and the Penang Water Services Academy (PWSA) for the implementation of certificate courses related to water treatment and distribution in the coming year," she said.
