KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today received a courtesy call from the Grand Mufti of India and also the Founder of Jamia Markaz, Kerala, India Al-Allamah Syeikh Abu Bakar Ahmad Al-Malibari at his office in Putrajaya.

The prime minister said he was honoured and expressed his highest appreciation to Sheikh Abu Bakar for the visit.

"May his presence benefit us, especially in his field of expertise regarding the book of Sahih al-Bukhari," he said in a Facebook post today.

Anwar said Syeikh Abu Bakar is expected to attend a number of knowledge sessions, including the Sahih Al-Bukhari Appreciation Seminar and the Launch of the National Level Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith Conference on July 22 in Putrajaya which he will also attend.

Anwar said last year, he was invited by Sheikh Abu Bakar to Jamia Markaz, located in the Markaz Knowledge City in Kozhikode, Kerala.

The prime minister said while he was in Kerala for several days, he pursued several community development initiatives, in addition to mingling with students there.– BERNAMA
