GOMBAK: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim estimates that tens of thousands of skilled job opportunities will be created through the new collaboration with Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Anwar said the collaboration with Tesla will further enhance the electric vehicle (EV) sector in the country.

As the Finance Minister, he said that the jobs will be realised through the establishment of headquarters, service centres, and experience centres in Cyberjaya, Selangor, as well as collaborations in Petaling Jaya.

He added the Starlink satellite service collaboration will improve internet accessibility and connectivity, thereby providing opportunities for rural areas to access these facilities.

"As for the Starlink satellite service, we have reached an agreement, which will provide access to affordable internet for rural areas, schools, and universities.

"Although initially 40 satellite services will be provided, he acknowledged the priority given to Malaysia.

"For SpaceX, three Malaysian companies will be involved in this project, and he (Musk) has expressed his intention to visit Malaysia in the near future," he said.

Anwar was met by reporters after performing Friday prayers at Masjid al-Khairiyah in Taman Seri Gombak, near here, today.

Earlier, Anwar, who is also the Member of Parliament for Tambun, had a virtual meeting with Elon to discuss various investments in Malaysia.

The virtual meeting between Anwar and Elon started at 9:30 am this morning and lasted approximately 25 minutes.

Also present in the virtual session were the Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz and Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
