KUALA LUMPUR: Youth-based party Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) has launched the Muda Hustle initiative in an effort to gather funds for the upcoming state elections.

Muda President, Syed Saddiq Syed Abd Rahman, stated that this endeavor is necessary as their party is not part of any state government.

According to Syed Saddiq, the initiative will be conducted entirely online through social media platforms.

It will commence by selling Muar's famous "otak-otak" online, followed by involvement from other party leaders.

"This effort is not solely undertaken by me; it also involves MUDA leaders and grassroots members in each constituency. The party needs to raise funds for deposits and campaigning," Syed Saddiq explained.

He further added, "Each member will participate .. and the funds will be channeled to the party's account. With sound finances, we can focus on advancing Malaysia and positioning our party as a check and balance to those in power at the Federal and state levels."

Rahman noted that Muda has a track record of implementing such fundraising initiatives and expressed confidence in their success.

"Muda has always relied on small contributions from the public. In the past, we managed to gather nearly RM3 million to support our daily operations and aid the underprivileged," he stated. Their goal now is to secure at least enough funds to cover deposits and campaign materials for each contested seat in the upcoming state elections.

However, Syed Saddiq emphasised their commitment to minimizing costs through digital campaigns since, ultimately, it is not the grandness of banners or flags that matters to the people.

"Instead, the people want to see the best policies, candidates, and ideologies being presented," he concluded.
