KUALA LUMPUR: Pas-linked news outlet HarakahDaily has apologised for publishing an article falsely claiming that former DAP member Razali Rahman was Lim Guan Eng's special adviser when he was Penang chief minister.

"HarakahDaily deeply regrets this negligence and sincerely apologises to DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng, as well as all parties involved.

"Furthermore, we hereby retract the publication of the report," it said.

The initial report claimed that Razali also occupied other roles in DAP, including Penang DAP Youth deputy chief and DAP publicity secretary.

Wong Hon Wai, Lim's political secretary, said Razali was never Lim's special adviser and had not held party or Penang government posts.

Wong had demanded that HarakahDaily remove the report and apologise to Lim within 48 hours.

Razali joined DAP in 2008 but was expelled from the party in 2011 when he claimed that DAP received funding from Israel.

He also accused DAP of planning a "Christian plot" to take over Putrajaya.

Allegations linking to Razali to Lim go as far back as 2016, when the party denied that Razali was Lim's special adviser.

HarakahDaily said their editorial team had not updated the information provided by DAP in 2016 concerning Lim's special adviser.
