KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Razarudin Husain has been appointed as the new inspector-general of police.

Razarudin will be replacing Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani effective June 23, according to a statement issued by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

Razarudin started his career with the police force in 1984 with the Crime Investigation Department (CID) in Kedah.

Born in Dengkil, Razarudin previously served as director of Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department.

On December 22, 2021, he replaced Mazlan Lazim as the country's deputy inspector-general of police.
