BENTONG: A Channel NewsAsia cameraman was killed in a crash involving two motorcycles at Km43 of the Karak-Kuala Lumpur highway about noon today.

Khairul Azman Zainuddin, 45, was pronounced dead by medical personnel after he sustained severe head injuries.

Bentong district police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said a initial investigations found that the victim was heading towards Kuala Lumpur and he lost control of his motorcycle before crashing into a road divider.

He said the impact caused the victim to be thrown into the opposite lane. A 46-year-old man on an oncoming motorycle could not avoid the victim in time and crashed into him, he said.

"Medical personnel confirmed that the victim, Khairul Azman Zainuddin had died at the scene due to severe head injuries," Zaiham said in a statement here today.

This case is investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death due to reckless and dangerous driving.

Zaiham urged all motorists to be more careful and for e owners to regularly maintain their vehicles.

Witnesses of the incident are urged to contact the Bentong police headquarters at 09-222 2222 to assist with investigations.
