LANGKAWI: The crowd goes into a frenzy the moment the men in black uniform approach them as if the Black Eagles pilots belonged to a popular K-Pop boyband.

That was how the local crowds react to the Korean Air Force's aerobatic team at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace exhibition 2023 (Lima '23) venue in Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) was opened to the public today.

It was an expected reaction given the team's popularity among Malaysian fans on social media since they made a return to perform at Lima for a second time.

"We are very touched by the love shown by the Malaysian fans. We are very fortunate that the weather is good, allowing us to fly the full display and showcase our best performance to Malaysian fans," team leader Eunho Yang told reporters.

Yang said he hoped the crowd were happy with their 24 different formations in the airshow, especially their unique formations that are not performed by any other aerobatics team.

"These are very close formations which can only be done by Black Eagles. Our two signature formations are the 'tagged' and 'tornado landing' manoeuvres."

Yang, who is performing in Lima for the first time, said he had fallen in love with the beauty of Langkawi's natural attractions.

"We are very happy to see the large crowd cheering and supporting us. I hope the crowd are entertained and touched by our performance.

"I wish our presence in Lima will help to further strengthen the relationship between two countries. I am grateful that we get strong support from Malaysians," he said.

As the biennial exhibition is ending tomorrow, Yang hoped he would be getting a chance to return for the next Lima edition.

"Hopefully we will return in the next edition. I am looking forward to delivering an even better show by the Black Eagles," he said.
