LANGKAWI: The New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd (NSTP) will distribute 24,000 copies of newpapers free of charge to visitors around Langkawi in conjunction with the Langkawi International Air and Maritime Exhibition 2023 (Lima '23).

The distribution of the New Straits Times, Berita Harian and Harian Metro newspapers started at 5am today and was finished at 1pm.

NSTP Circulation Department retail head Fazleesham Mohd Yunus, said 5,500 newspapers were distributed in 13 hotels and 11 schools around Langkawi today in addition to visitors to the exhibition.

"We will distribute 5,500 copies of NSTP-published newspapers for three days starting today. The papers will be distributed in selected hotels and schools early in the morning and at 10am we will start distributing to the public and visitors at the exhibition.

"On Friday, we will distribute 4,100 copies and on Saturday, the last day of Lima '23, we will distribute another 3,350 copies.

"This Friday we will also distribute to 10 selected mosques for congregations performing the Friday prayers. Each mosque will receive 100 free copies of Harian Metro," he said.

Fazleesham said the newspapers will also be distributed at several locations including at the Langkawi Crocodile Park, Petronas Padang Mat Sirat and Under Water World Langkawi.

He said the free circulation of the NSTP newspapers is expected to enliven the atmosphere of Lima '23 in addition to engaging with its readers.

"We have booked a speedboat to deliver our newspapers dew Kuala Perlis to Langkawi for the duration of Lima' 23.

A total of 10 staff members including executives are involved in this free distribution exercise, apart from that we are also doing street sales at Jetty Point around Pekan Kuah until this Thursday and at the cable cars on Friday and Saturday," he said.

During the street sales, members of the public who purchase a newspaper will receive a packet of Julie's Buttons biscuits which are sponsored by Julie's Manufacturing Sdn Bhd.
