KUALA LUMPUR: YouTube cooking sensation S. Pavithra, who garnered a massive following in 2020 for her easy-to-follow recipes, has recently vanished from the platform, leaving fans with many questions.

Pavithra, 32, and her husband, M. Sugu, 33, won the hearts of many Malaysians since May 2020 for their honesty and modesty in showcasing their cooking abilities on their YouTube channel, 'Sugu Pavithra'.

Recently, a Facebook page posted about their disappearance, asking "What happened to Sugu Pavithra? FB (Facebook) is gone. YouTube hasn't updated a new video in a year. I used to watch their videos before cooking."

This post has since triggered a wave of inquiries from concerned netizens, frustrated by the lack of answers about the couple's whereabouts.

"They lived a hard life. But when they started seeing success, a lot of them wanted to cling to it. So her husband didn't like that situation, which eventually led to the 'court' case. Maybe they are happy to live a simple life just without publicity," said a user, Sara Ishak.

Another user, Khairul Zaman Hamzah, agreed that the couple might be more comfortable living a humble life rather than chasing popularity.

"It's nice to get income and indirectly change the fate of the family. But there are envious family members. More are willing to live a difficult life than to see a happy and popular partner," Hamzah opined.

Meanwhile, Momoy A. Ghani expressed disappointment over the couple's decision to delete or hide their cooking videos from YouTube, stating: "They don't appreciate their followers when they do that. If you leave the video alone, it becomes passive income."

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the pair even received appreciation from former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and well-known international chef Redzuawan or Chef Wan.

Former plantation worker Sugu was detained on July 21, 2020, and prosecuted in the Ipoh Sessions Court for assaulting his wife and unlawful possession of a sickle. He pleaded not guilty to both charges.
