KUALA LUMPUR: As more people began ending their Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays today, many major highways experienced heavy and slow traffic in various parts of the peninsula.

The Malaysian Highway Authority, when contacted, pointed out that the traffic crawl was more concentrated in the southern areas today, compared to yesterday as it was more focused in the northern region.

It added that slow traffic on the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway was expected to linger until midnight.

A check by the New Straits Times on MHA's Twitter account (@LLMinfotrafik), locations that had been experiencing slow traffic in the North-South Expressway northbound is specifically from Changkat Jering to Kuala Kangsar, Kuala Kangsar towards the Sungai Perak Rest and Recreation (R&R) area, the Simpang Pulai rest area to Gopeng, and onwards to Tapah.

South of the federal capital, heavy traffic was reported between Pedas Linggi and Seremban, from the Ayer R&R to the Pedas Linggi rest area, Bukit Gambir to Tangkak, and Simpang Renggam heading to Sedenak.

MHA, however, said traffic flow was better than the previous day.

MHA said traffic flow was also heavy on the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway was in a snarl in several areas.

It tweeted that traffic was heavy and slow from Bentong Timur to Lentang, Bukit Tinggi to the Genting Sempah Tunnel and Batu 12 Gombak to the Gombak toll plaza.

Meanwhile, the NSE's Central Link (Elite) had slow traffic from Bandar Saujana Putra to USJ.
