PUTRAJAYA: There is no need for Human Resource Minister V. Sivakumar to take a leave of absence as he is not a suspect in the investigation into a recruiting agency.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said Sivakumar had extended his cooperation, and the DAP, of which the latter is a member, was monitoring the development of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) probe.

It was reported that three suspects have been arrested following MACC investigations, including two of Sivakumar's senior officers.

"As far as we are concerned, he is not a suspect in this case. At this point of time, we will observe the (probe's) development.

"There is no instruction from the prime minister for him (Sivakumar) to take leave," said the DAP secretary-general at a press conference held here earlier today.

Sivakumar was called by MACC yesterday (Sunday) to aid in its investigations into alleged corruption relating to the recruitment of migrant workers.

An MACC source had said the Batu Gajah member of parliament had had his statement recorded at 10am but did not disclose the location.
