PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) summoned Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar today to aid in its investigations into alleged corruption relating to the recruitment of migrant workers.

A MACC source said the Batu Gajah member of parliament's statement was recorded at 10am today. However, the source did not disclose the location where the minister's statement was taken.

He was present to have his statement recorded," the source said. MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki could not be reached at this time for additional details.

It was reported that several individuals had been arrested over their involvement in setting up a migrant worker recruitment agency to obtain approval from the ministry, despite a conflict of interest.

It is understood that the commission is now focusing on the involvement of other individuals within the ministry and other related agencies.

On April 13, the MACC arrested a senior officer to the Human Resources Minister to assist investigation into the case.
