KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat today unanimously passed the amendment to several provisions to the Road Transport Act 1987, Land Public Transport Act 2010 and the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board 1987.
The bills were earlier tabled for a second and third reading by Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook and were passed via a voice note after a debate session among the MPs in the August House.
The Road Transport (Amendment) Bill 2023 was tabled to amend 13 clauses involving the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333).
Meanwhile, the Land Public Transport (Amendment) Bill 2023 involved the expansion of the regulatory pertaining to the intermediation businesses to goods and vehicle service licensing.
Similarly, the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (Amendment) Bill 2023 is focused to allow p-hailing vehicles to be goods vehicles subject to an intermediation business licence, among other things.
