SHAH ALAM: A female student of SMK Seksyen 7 here had a jolt on the first day of school when her right leg got stuck in a metal drain cover early this morning (March 20).

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Morni Mamat said the 16-year-old student tripped and her right leg ended up getting wedged in the metal drain cover for about 20 minutes before she was rescued.

Morni said they received a distress call regarding the incident at 9.08am and a team from the Shah Alam fire station was sent to the school.

"The team of firefighters calmed the victim and were able to free her leg by using special equipment.

"Thankfully, the student did not sustain any injuries and was then left in the capable hands of the school authorities," he said in a statement released today (March 20).
