KUALA LUMPUR: The government has given its assurance that it will look into claims that flood victims have yet to receive aid.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the aid should be distributed to victims without taking into account their political leanings.

"I will monitor the distribution of flood aid and our promise is that the victims should have received their aid before returning home.

"We have streamlined the matter with the district disaster committees. They might not have the allocation, but I will monitor it.

"Instructions have been issued and we have identified the families and areas that are prone to flood, so the aid will be allocated to them," he told the Dewan Rakyat during the Minister's Question Time here today.

Zahid, who is also rural and regional development minister, was replying to a supplementary question from Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff (PN-Rantau Panjang) on the distribution of the RM1,000 flood aid that has yet to reach victims.
