BENTONG: A water column and mud flood hit Bukit Tinggi and Janda Baik this evening following continuous rain.

The 6pm incident also left numerous vehicles stranded.

Bentong Fire and Rescue Department chief, Mohd Shafie Sulong, said to date no loss of lives were reported.

As of 8.30pm, no one has required evacuation to safety.

"However, the Bukit Tinggi-Janda Baik and Bukit Tinggi-Genting Sempah routes have been closed off to all vehicles as a precautionary measure," he said.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Bentong Public Works Department said the Jalan Kuala Lumpur - Bentong road headed to the Janda Baik junction has been closed off to all vehicles following a 100-metre long landslide.

The department, in a statement, advised road users to use an alternative road namely the KL-Karak Highway to Janda Baik (Bentong bound).

It said it is putting up warning signs to inform road users of the road closures.
