SEGAMAT: Continuous heavy rain since Sunday caused flooding in several parts of the district that saw 221 people from 59 families being evacuated to three temporary evacuation centres (PPS), here as of 1pm today.

A district disaster spokesperson, in a statement today, said three PPS were opened at the Pekan Air Panas Multipurpose Hall (104 victims from 26 families), Sungai Gatom Village Multipurpose Hall (59 victims from 14 families) and Kampung Paya Merah Multipurpose Hall (68 victims from 19 families).

He advised flood victims to immediately evacuate to the nearest PPS as soon as ordered by the authorities. They were also told to ensure that all electricity supply sources were shut off when they evacuate their homes.
