KUALA LUMPUR: Umno members must not put the blame on any one person over the losses the party suffered during the 15th General Election (GE15).

Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said many parties needed to be held accountable for the outcome of GE15.

"Let us reflect, practise self-criticism over what had been done, and not point fingers at only one person... many people were responsible.

"I know very well that what had happened is a hefty price that we have to pay for the lack of unity in our thinking. This is the price we paid by just winning 30 (parliamentary) seats," he said during the RTM Naratif Khas programme tonight.

Zahid stressed that restoring the party should be the priority after what happened in GE15, instead of serving the wishes of individuals who are "gunting dalam lipatan (wolves in sheep's clothing)".

"Uniting the party is more important than serving those who will never stop disrupting the party's unity. Umno members at every level should use political wisdom and practice ethics to strengthen the party."

Meanwhile, Zahid said two party annual general meetings would be held this year, namely for 2022 and 2023, with this week's meeting being the 2022 AGM which had been postponed.

The 2023 AGM, he said, was expected to happen in mid-year as the party election must be held within six months of GE15.

"The divisional meetings for 2023 will be held simultaneously nationwide and that's when there will be elections to choose leaders at the divisional as well as national levels," he added.
