HULU SELANGOR: Meet Grouse and Denti, the English Springer Spaniel and Labrador Retriever involved in rescue operations at landslide site in Batang Kali.

These two six-year-old cadaver dogs were among the six Fire and Rescue Department K9 tracker dogs deployed since Friday.

The other four comprise three English Springer Spaniels -  Pop, Blake, and Frankie - and Lady, another Labrador Retriever.

The dogs had found six bodies buried in the landslide - three in day one and three in day two of the search and rescue operation.

K9 operation and training officer R.Chandran said the K9 dogs had have been involved in the SAR since day one.

"Grouse pointed out a spot on the first day where three bodies were found.

"The dogs also found two more bodies on the first day, but we had to revisit it the next day because there was no excavator at the time to dig the bodies out," he told reporters at the SAR site today.

Meanwhile, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Norazam Khamis said 11 K9 dogs were involved on the third day of the search.

He said six were from his department, four from the police K9 dogs unit and one is from the Malaysian Armed Forces.

Norazam said the dogs were on rotation to detect the remaining nine victims. Today's search operation resumed at 9am after ending in the wee hours the night before.

"They found new interest points today, but after digging, no bodies were found.

"They are being put on rotation because such long hours will affect the accuracy... normally, they will go for 20 to 30 minutes for one round, and they can work up to 12 hours."
